Questionnaire Response
Loren Braul - Borderland
1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?
In the past number of elections, this area has elected someone who has not played an active role in government. We deserve to have someone from the local area who will have the right and the ability to speak.
Through my role as a lawyer and and on the board of various community groups, I spend a lot of time exploring solutions to complex problems and working collaboratively with others to put those solutions into action. Doing this well requires careful listening, diligent guidance, and creative problem solving. I will take this same approach to my representation of you in the legislation and am committed to fulfilling my responsibilities to you with integrity.
You deserve someone who can work with others to find real solutions. You also deserve someone who will stand up for you and put your concerns and practical solutions on the record. I believe that I have the experience to provide that type of representation and will have a position within the party to speak for you in the legislature.
I want to provide the residents of Borderland with responsible representation in the Legislature.
2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?
My commitment to you is to represent your interests with diligence and integrity, maintain constructive and respectful relationships with fellow MLAs, and in particular MLAs from the area regardless of party, and to state clearly when government action has a negative impact on our area while proposing practical alternatives.
I have the practical skills to allow me to effectively do the job from day one. I am a lawyer and my role is to help people navigate difficult situations. A big part of my job involves concisely identifying the issues and proposing practical solutions and delivering this message in a way that resonates. I can effectively represent the views of people throughout Borderland and find common goals that will help each of us succeed.
3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?
We need a government that partners with local government to allow them to construct the infrastructure necessary for business to thrive. Municipalities need the ability to create long-term plans so they know where to make these investments responsibly and strategically. Every municipality I spoke to during the campaign said they could grow more if they had a more reliable source of funding.
