Questionnaire Response
Kim Longstreet - Brandon East
1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?
My work as a community advocate has propelled me in this direction. It was the logical step to continue bringing about change for my community. Sitting on the side lines waiting for progress to happen was no longer an option for me. It was important to me to keep the addictions crisis facing our province as an issue in this election. I feel I have achieved that. All three parties have provided plans to combat this crisis. Of the three, of course, the plan by the Manitoba Liberal Party is in alignment with my beliefs and address what I have been advocating for over the past 2.5 years.
2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?
Recently I was recognized by my community with the “Community Builder” award. This award from my peers speaks to their trust that my passion for the betterment of my community is paramount to everything I have accomplished and what I hope to accomplish in the future. I would like voters to know that I would bring the same energy that I bring to my community’s well-being to my role as MLA Brandon East.
3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?
Health Care cuts reversed.
Addictions and mental health resources.
Climate and environmental issues.
Addressing the root causes of poverty.
A living wage that works Manitobans.
Quality and affordable education.
4. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?
It’s a true honor for me to be the Liberal candidate running for the seat of MLA Brandon East.
The Manitoba Liberal Party has put forward plans and platforms that have substance and are achievable.
Manitobans should consider the Manitoba Liberal Party as the party that has a workable vision for our province.
We are the party with a New Way Forward!
