2019 Manitoba Election

1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?

Timing can be the motivator for an adventure in life! I am entering a new chapter in my life: just retiring , turning 65 and losing my  baby brother and many dreams I did not follow up! When I was asked by the Green Party of Manitoba I said yes in 2 hours…hit the ground running to get my nomination paper signed in less then 3 days! I have all the life experience along with a major in Political Science …background in organic farming….as a single mother being marginalized and working poor was normal…working 2 or 3 jobs at a time…as an Activist I care about the Earth and I naturally took the opportunity presented to me by the Green Party! I am proud to be the Green Party of Manitoba candidate for Southdale!

2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?

I walk the talk!  I know that the people that will be voting for me will be hard working, feeling hopeless as the working poor who need a raise to a living wage! On the Green Party platform! I am concerned about all life on earth having clean drinking water, clean air to breath, green spaces, healthy non GMO food source, choices to naturally heal the body ..food as medicine, support for farmers, child care and health care needs are #1 priority along with the environment!

3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?

Child Care, Health Care , poverty and environmental issues. Support for farmers that need our support to kick the herbicides and pesticides ! Buying local here in Manitoba! Supporting all products and services and small businesses! Too many families are frustrated about the 1000 plus waiting list for Child Care spaces…Our Hospitals need to be open and operating with all the medical staff necessary to cope with Manitoba needs now! People who work 1 to 3 jobs at time should not be in poverty! A living wage is urgently needed as well!

4. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I am proud and privileged to have the opportunity to serve everyday citizen and to make a difference in the world! Thank you Katherine Quinton Southdale Green Party of Manitoba candidate! Go out and vote with your heart!
