Questionnaire Response
Gordon Beddome - Spruce Woods
1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?
The confidence that I have gained in the Green Party has made me decide to run as a candidate. The values that the Green Party represents in their policy and platform should be a choice given to all voters.
2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?
Years of being a successful rancher depended on the health of the native grasslands on my ranch. I bring years of experience and knowledge from working with Nature Conservancy of Canada and The Yellow Quill Grazing project preserving native grasslands. I believe that environmental protection and economic benefits can go hand in hand,
Nine years as a board member for a Conservation District gave me the experience working with watersheds and understanding the importance of our water resources
My understanding of the economic and environmental issues
Having a sweat lodge on my ranch has been instrumental in developing ways to bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous people together
3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?
The climate crises requires us to make good economic/environmental decisions
Protection of watersheds and water resources
Address misunderstandings between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people
Implementing electoral reform that gives mixed member proportional representation
