Questionnaire Response

George Wong - Fort Richmond

1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?

I am running because I care deeply about Manitoba. In three short years, the PC government has thrown our healthcare, K – 12, and post-secondary education systems into chaos. They’ve ignored the meth and addiction crises and have done nothing for mental health supports. I want to stop that. While the PC government is only there for those at the top, the NDP is for all of us.

2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?

I will respect voters, I will engage voters, and I’ll work with all my constituents regardless of their political backgrounds to ensure they are represented in the legislature.

3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?

Health care, good jobs and sustainable growth, and an affordable quality of life are the issues I will stand for in my role as MLA. They’re important to me because nothing matters more than our health. And good jobs and sustainable growth will elevate more people out of poverty and contribute to growing our economy; helping us become a more prosperous province. An affordable quality of life will attract more people to come and stay in Manitoba, reduce out-migration, and to strengthen our economy.

4. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I am an experienced business consultant who helped build Fortune 500, small and medium sized businesses, and community non-profits alike. I am a Fellow Certified Management Consultant (FCMC) with MBA from Ivey Business School of the University of Western Ontario and I speak four languages. I personally witnessed the privatization of MTS, the hallway medicine during the previous PC government, and various reckless cuts from successive PC governments causing Manitoba to go backwards. I witness the NDP government having to rebuild the infrastructure and social deficits caused by PC governments and I will work with you to stop PC from causing more harms. Please don’t let Brian Pallister and his team take away your health care, your child care, your senior care, and your opportunities to build a better life. Together we can stop the PCs from further damaging our province. On September 10, vote NDP.
