2019 Manitoba Election

Eddie Calisto-Tavares - St. Johns

1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?

My father fell severely ill early spring and I saw first hand on broken the health care system is with  good nurses pushed to the brink and not able to look after patiences. Their role is giving patients medications and there is no other care and attention giving to the patient.  Managment is concerned about how many beds they can clear daily.

The wait times are based on how fast people can get movef from one room the other.

The NDP commissioned a report to reform  Health Care and did absolutely nothing with the report! Pallister uses the report to  slushe and cuts services that are putting people like my dad  would have died had I and my brother agreed with what the Doctor .   I can’t stand by and just not do it anything, I am ready to roll my sleeves and fight for better health care and improving Seven Oaks Hospitals for all North Enders.  I want to be the change i want to see and I am committed to take the Liberal Plan and make things happen for the residents of St Johns.  I am inclusivce and I see greast potential in St Johns and its residents.

2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?

For the last 20 years I have worked side by side with people who lost jobs and had to re-create their work life, with newcomers to help them integrate successfully into Winnipeg community, with Indeginous people to train for high demand occupations in the construction industry, with people with differnt abilities to help them deal wityh mult barriers to accessing the labour market.

I will walk side by side with all of the residents of St Johns and work with the community to find solutions  to lift up those that need a hand up. I will use my passion for building capacity one person at the time, my determination and committment to get things done.  I dont have all the answers but what I do have is the skills, capacity and energy to drive change in St Johns.

Given the change to earn your vote on September 10 and become your MLA my dedication and committment will move all of us forward with a new way.

3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?

• Save EMERGENCY Room Services and improve healtcare in our province
• Reform job and skills training progrms to improve job opportunties and living standards in our mprovince
• Ensure equitable access to high quality education for all Manitobans
• Develop community -driven solutions to keep our neighbourhoods green, safe and vibrant

 

4. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?

I have knocked on doors, spoken to wide range of residents in St Johns and my committment is to work hard to earn your votes and continue to walk side by side with residents and work to make positive change.

I am a passionate person with high energy and great capacity of working and learning from all of my experiences.

I do have a entrepreneur spirit and a positive mind set and I see solutions and opportunities and this attitude will be the fore front of my MLA role and responsibilities
