APTN Manitoba - Brittany HobsonAPTN NewsTucked away in the southeast corner of Winnipeg sits the riding of Saint Boniface-Saint Vital. Métis leader Louis Riel’s grave is located in the heart of the Saint Boniface portion of the riding. And for what may be the first time in the district’s history, four Métis candidates are hoping to secure the seat. Prior to entering federal politics, Vandal was a Winnipeg city councillor for two decades. He was one of the record number of Indigenous candidates to get into the House of Commons four years ago.

Ici Radio Canada / CBC Francais - Le débat organisé en français avec les candidats de la circonscription de Saint-Boniface-Saint-Vital n'aura finalement pas lieu, jeudi, en raison du désistement, mercredi soir, de la candidate conservatrice Réjeanne Caron. Seuls le candidat libéral Daniel Vandal et le candidat vert Ben Linnick ont confirmé leur présence autour de la table. Nous aurions aimé que les candidats qui veulent représenter la circonscription électorale de Saint-Boniface-Saint-Vital puissent rencontrer les électeurs, discuter avec eux de leur proposition et de leur vision pour la circonscription et en même temps, de recevoir d‘eux leurs préoccupations et de dire comment ils entendent relever les défis auxquels la circonscription fait face. Le candidat du Parti vert du Canada, Ben Linnick, n’a pas lui non plus caché sa déception et son indignation. La diffusion du débat en français des chefs au Centre étudiant de l'Université de Saint-Boniface à 18 h 30 est en revanche maintenue.
