Questionnaire Response
Audrey Gordon - Southdale
1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?
I have always made it my mission to serve people. Running to be the MLA of Southdale, to represent the views and concerns of the people at the Manitoba Legislature, is my way of giving back to the community. I have deep roots in Southdale through community sports, businesses, ethno-cultural organizations and faith groups that are in the riding. I welcome the opportunity to work in collaboration with these groups to build a strong and prosperous Southdale.
2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?
I am very passionate about serving people and giving back to the community. I am energetic, focused and results-oriented. My 35 years of work experience; 25 years with the provincial government, and more recently, 10 years in health care at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, will help residents to navigate government systems and get solutions to their issues. I will listen and work hard to ensure residents’ concerns are heardat the Manitoba Legislature. I know that the PC Team’s plan is the only plan that will keep our province fiscally sustainable for the future while providing the services Southdale residents and Manitobans need. I would be humbled to be elected the PC MLA for Southdale.
3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?
I’ve heard on the doorsteps that healthcare, misdemeanor crime, meth addiction, taxes and childcare are key concerns for Southdale residents, and these issues are also important to me. A fiscally responsible government is paramount to ensure provincial and community-based programs can be funded to keep residents safe and secure in their homes. Young people, business owners, seniors and families living on a fixed income want to live in a province where they can find jobs and afford to live, work and raise a family. As a mother of two adult sons, I know the challenges parents face with finding affordable and safe child care. I want to support these families to ensure their children receive the appropriate care in the early years of their development.
4. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?
I want to thank the residents of Southdale who have placed their confidence and trust in me by voting for me to be MLA for Southdale. If elected on September 10th, I will work for the betterment of all residents in the riding. Thank you for taking the time to read this profile. If you have any questions please contact me at 204.590.9133 or by email at [email protected] and I would be happy to speak with you. I hope I can count on your vote!
