Questionnaire Response
Andrew Frank - Concordia
1. Why did you decide to run in the Manitoba election?
To work to ensure that Manitoba is a province where families find it affordable to live, that has healthcare and educational systems among the best in Canada, has a growing economy so my sons don’t have to move elsewhere to find good jobs and to chart a responsible course in addressing climate change. In short to make Manitoba a place where our citizens can prosper and others choose to make it their new home!
2. Why should a voter consider electing you to represent them?
Over the past nearly 30 years I have had first hand experience in helping the most vulnerable in our society through my involvement with our local Harvest Food Bank, ensuring students have the resources and environment to excel while on a school board and the challenges of starting and developing a company that manufactures unique Smart products that serve medical, sports and consumer markets. This all has provided me the empathy to understand the needs of the community and tools to help build the consensus, and implementation plans necessary to bring new solutions to challenges we all face as we go forward together in Manitoba
3. What key issue(s) / topic(s) will you stand for in your role as MLA, and why are these important to you?
Key issues for me as an MLA are Education, Healthcare and growing Manitoba’s economy.
With a child still in school and a business that is always looking for skilled employees I want to see an education system that equips our children to benefit from the employment opportunities and needs that Manitoba businesses have as they grow. Healthcare has to improve to keep pace with an aging population and new technologies. Thirty years of experience in helping those with medical challenges has given me insight into how we can better serve Manitobans. Our economy has to grow to support the services and programs our community needs and to provide local opportunities for our children as they enter the workplace.
4. Do you have any other comments regarding your candidacy?
Deficits and debt means that Manitoban dollars that could solve Manitoban’s needs are not available to do so. I am in favor of balancing the budget to free more resources for improving infrastructure, education and Healthcare.

June 25, 2021
CTV - MINNEAPOLIS -- Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin has been sentenced to 22 1/2 years in prison for the murder of George Floyd, whose dying gasps under Chauvin's knee led to the biggest outcry against racial injustice in the U.S. in generations. With good behavior, Chauvin, 45, could be paroled after serving two-thirds of his sentence, or about 15 years. We've been through that already," said a tearful Terrence Floyd, one of Floyd's brothers. Still, there was recognition that the sentencing was another major step forward for Minneapolis since Floyd died on May 25, 2020. Several people interviewed in Minneapolis before Chauvin's sentencing said they wanted to see a tough sentence.

Death, taxes and the Winnipeg Jets having their Stanley Cup dreams crushed by the mighty Edmonton Oilers. One thing that hasn't changed, however, is the view from many pundits and oddsmakers that this series is likely to be swift, and one-sided. Is history about to repeat itself, or can the Jets right some wrongs of the past and end the Oilers season for the first time in their NHL history? Andrew Copp is likely good to go for Game 1, but Nikolaj Ehlers and Pierre-Luc Dubois are major question marks.
