October 7, 2019
Winnipeg Sun - The province rolled out nearly $3 million in funding Monday to improve mental-health services for youth in Manitoba. “Mental health and addictions is not just a health issue. Today’s announcement is welcome, but considering the Pallister government underspent on community mental health care by $15 million in the last budget this commitment falls short,” Bernadette Smith, the party’s critic for mental health and addictions, said via email. The kits were distributed to fifth-grade students in several schools in the province by the Canadian Mental Health Association as part of a pilot project.
